1. The Beginning of the End - On my way to Phnom Penh today for the K3 Close of Service Conference. After two years of being told how to live in Cambodia, it’s finally time for Peace Corps to tell us how to go home.
2. Minus One… Plus Twenty – I heard recently that Peace Corps is planning on using my village as a training site for the next group of volunteers. That means that about a week after I leave, twenty new Americans will move in. So much for leaving my mark.
3. Pretty Boys – The second and third best athlete’s in the Knowlton family enjoying their final Parent’s Weekend at Deerfield. Two months until the champion returns…
4. Headlines of the Week - “OSAMA BIN WANKIN” (The Daily) and “OSAMA BIN SPANKIN” (The NY Post).
I also laugh every time I hear someone say, “Osama’s porn stash.”
5. The Road of Death – After watching this video I’ll never complain again about running in Cambodia. I’ll take dogs over bullets any day.

cooper still enjoy your reading your blog each day! thought you might like this list of article from the past year. a bit of variety. dan got his rude introduction to teaching in NJ when he received his official “you’re laid off letter but we still need you to finish out the school year.” he’s been teaching 4th gr in newark for the past 2 yrs and coaching the 7/8 gr b-ball teams. his team looks strangely similar to yours…proving kids are the same every where! enjoy your last few weeks! peggy dreker

We are back in Denver after an exhausting (and sunny!) Parents’ Weekend. We certainly packed in every activity we could and spent time with KBE and company and had a wonderful time. I’m afraid graduation is going to be a teary affair. As was maybe your Close of Service conference?! Is the picture you posted from when you arrived or is that the K3′s welcoming the new group? Hard to believe your little village is going to be a training site. Things change. And time does fly.
Oh and FYI, you might have some challengers on the best athlete in the family designation. Honestly at this point I’d vote Court. She’s in serious tri training!
We’ll call tonight.
Love you
XO
You, oprah, regis, garrison keillor, Katie couric, all leaving at the same time! I am already having serious withdrawl. Checking into rehab!
PS/Loved the Patti Smith (Just Kids). A really perfect airplane read.
Regarding #2 above: You misunderstand. You were SO good that it will take 20 new recruits to replace you!
