1. First Foreigner - Well it turns out that I’m not quite as out of shape as I thought I was. While I still have a long way to go before the NYC Marathon, I was able to run 6:40 mile pace from start to finish yesterday and crossed the line right around 1:27:45. I was definitely the first non-Asian finisher and I think I was either 4th or 5th overall.
2. The Half – A few more thoughts on yesterdays run…
- Never before have a participated in a more disorganized race. I think I had to ask for directions on three separate occasions.
- Yesterday was also the first time I’ve ever been asked mid-race if I wanted a moto/tuk-tuk ride.
- Sometimes it’s nice not having mile/kilometer markers.
- Handing out bottled waters in a race is such a waste. Does anybody drink more than a sip or two before throwing the rest of the bottle on the ground?
- The $8 post-race massage I got yesterday was the best decision I’ve ever made. My legs feel great today.
- It was oddly comforting starting the race in front of the Naga World Casino. I felt like I was back home at the Atlantic City Marathon.
- 140 days till NYC.
3. Happy Fathers Day Dad!/Happy Birthday Emmett - Hope you both have a great day! Your presents are in the mail. You can expect them in six to eight months.
4. Tweets of the Week – A few of my favorites from the Twittersphere…
- Women are treated so terribly in Arab nations, you’d think they were gays in THIS nation. – Sarah Silverman
- Just realized my biggest fear is a rat crawling out of a urinal when I’m using it. Didn’t happen, but just realized it. – Donald Glover
- So Vancouver finally found out about the Greek austerity measures? – Seth Myers
- Happy Fathers Day @RepWeiner – Jeffrey Ross
5. The Golf Summit - Also known as our government hard at work. We might not be any close to a budget settlement, but I hear Obama and Boehner won $2 yesterday! God bless America!
