The End

Well after two years and over 500 posts I have decided to retire Ten Things I Think. While I really enjoy putting this site together and would love to be able to keep some version of it going, now that I’m back in America and am about to start my first year of law school, I lack both the time and perspective that have allowed me to sustain this blog in the way that I have.

At the same time I also believe that there are easier and more efficient ways for me to vocalize my opinions and maintain a presence on the web. Going forward I plan to use Twitter to post pictures, life updates, links to stories that interest me, and random comments on current events. You can follow me @CooperKnowlton and if you’re not yet a Twitter user I encourage you to join. I’m sure I will also put stuff up from time to time on Facebook and I’m going to join Google+ this week so I might use that as well.

It’s been a lot of fun over these last two years. Thank you all for your interest and support.

As I said in one of my last posts, Thank YOU Cooper for the blog, pictures, stories, world map, basketball videos and letting me/us into your world. It was great fun to follow your adventures. Good luck in law school.

    Love to all the Knowltons

Needless to say we will miss the blog, Cooper. It was so much fun for all of us and it certainly made you feel not quite so far away. We’re very excited for your next chapter. Ann Arbor may even be in our time zone!
It’s been quite an adventure. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Love you. Welcome home. And onto Jackson ( and Twitter!) we go.

See if you can archive the blog for your own records.. You may want it for your memoir after your long career as the state senator from NJ. A lot of good stuff not only about cambodia in there, but about an interesting time in this country… too hard to remmeber it 40 years later…

One last thing. Seen written on the wall at the Maira Kalman show. And too long I think to “tweet”

“As if the fullness of the soul did not sometimes overflow in the emptiest metaphors, since no one can ever give the exact measure of his needs, nor of his conceptions, nor of his sorrows; and since human speech is like a cracked tin kettle, on which we hammer out tunes to make bears dance when we long to move the stars.”
    Gustave Flaubert/Madame Bovary

And these too ( which might be just right for Twitter)

    Trip to China
    Gumdrop Mountains

    Return to New York
    Kiss the Ground

    Keep Calm and Carry On

Cooper- I am at a loss for how to replace my often daily, always weekly checking of your blog. It has been such a pleasure to follow you on so many levels- your insights, humor, suggestions of reading materials, world views, not to forget your invaluable dance videos- they have all been things I have looked forward to and learned from over the past two years. Can’t thank you enough for sharing them as well as for sharing your amazing experiences with us in person when we visited. Hard to believe it was only a year ago.
I know you will love Ann Arbor and wish you all the very best in this new journey.
      Sending much love.
I will see you when I see you!
      xoxo

    Hi Cooper

I found this blog over a year ago while I was just considering applying for the Peace Corps. I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog and will definitely miss your Ten Things. Thanks for giving me insight on PC as well as various other topics! It really helped me decide to continue with my application. If all goes well, I’ll be starting my service this fall.

Good luck on all your future endeavors.

    cooper,
i cannot express to you how much i have enjoyed your blog. i began reading it to support you and you wound up supporting me. you have been my d.j., my librarian, my travel guide, my stand up comic, and my link to politics and world news. although i will truly, deeply miss your blog, you are right it is time to move forward. one of the best parts of the blog was “watching” you grow over the last 2 years. you are an amazing young man. best of luck to you in law school. you will be great.

    Dude,

For as much shit as I gave you about your blog, I considered it second only to my own for entertainment value as far as PC Cambodia blogs go (shameless self-promotion ended). You should continue doing it, if only to give me one more website to waste time on, because the world should revolve around me.

All that to say nice work, and enjoy freezing your ass off in Michigan.

  8. As a PC applicant and now a PC invitee to Cameroon, I have read your blog to find out about life in the PC during my application stage. Its been fun reading your blog. Good luck, dude. Or perhaps I should say, good luck, future counselor.

You sure you don’t want to reconsider? Way easier for us to keep track of you in Cambodia with the blog than in NYC without it!
So happy you are back in America but now we miss the blog.
    Go figure.

I have read your blog over the last two years and recommended it to young people who were contemplating PC and other overseas volunteer work. It was so nice to learn that the sense of humor I enjoyed during your high school years is ever present. More importantly, you have grown in your passion for understanding the world around you. So enjoyed your quotes and recommended readings – they’ve made a difference in my life. So teacher to student, it’s so nice to have reversed roles. Good luck at U of M. Will be out there for the Michigan/Purdue game. Go Blue!! Mrs. C

  11. Usually I don’t read post on blogs, however I wish to say that this write-up very compelled me to check out and do so! Your writing style has been surprised me. Thank you, quite great article. My blog is KHMER79.
